How to write an opportunity players can trust
A football opportunity should make the next step clearer, not create more uncertainty. Whether you are advertising a trial, a showcase or a football role, precise information helps players decide whether it is relevant to them.
Say who you are and what you need.
Use the organization’s real name and explain your authority to publish the opportunity. Describe the type of player or professional you are looking for, the expected level and the responsibilities involved. Avoid language that implies a guaranteed contract or outcome when none exists.
Make logistics easy to find.
State the location, application deadline and planned start or event date. Explain what successful applicants should expect next. If dates may change, describe how updates will be communicated. If eligibility depends on work authorization, league registration or other rules, make that clear without inviting applicants to send sensitive documents through chat.
Be direct about money.
Explain each fee, what it covers, whether it is separate from platform membership and the applicable cancellation or refund terms. An application-access purchase should never be confused with selection or employment. Discuss any organizational payment arrangement with the site operator; the included platform does not automatically distribute checkout funds to vendors.
Respect applicants’ data.
Review only the information relevant to the opportunity. Do not forward CV links without an appropriate basis or keep copies longer than your published policy allows. Remember that an ordinary CDN link can be shared onward. A dedicated, appropriately secured process is needed if sensitive documents are genuinely required later.
Keep the loop closed.
Review submissions regularly, use clear statuses and give applicants a realistic idea of the next step. Close applications when the opportunity is no longer available. An accurate, current listing creates a better experience for your team and for every player considering a move.
